COVID-19 Guidelines at The Salon

*Update: We now have in place The Monito virtual greeter at The Salon. It’s a device that scans the temperature of everyone who enters The Salon. It is equipped with mask recognition, asks health screening questions, and verifies name and phone number for potential contract-tracing purposes. Encrypted info is only stored for 30 days and then is automatically deleted from the device’s memory. All of our Salon staff members also check in with the greeter every day before they begin their shift.

We are very excited that we’ve been given the go-ahead and can now open our doors again in Downtown Belleville to welcome all our old and new clients!

As we move into Phase 2 of Ontario’s COVID-19 strategy there are new guidelines now in place at The Salon to help keep everyone safe, healthy & beautiful! Please take a moment to review what is expected of all staff and clients as we re-open.

Pre-Screening Process:
This will take place at our main entrance. Please arrive 5 minutes early, but also be aware that you may need to wait outdoors if your service provider isn't ready for you. Note that 6ft markers will be visible on the sidewalk, clearly indicating where to stand while in the queue.
• Check-in with greeter for a touchless temperature scan and health check screening. A series of standard covid questions will be asked and your name and contact information stored for 30-days. (Every guest and staff member must go through this process before entering).
• This area will also be equipped with hand sanitizer. We require that all guests and staff members, disinfect their hands prior to entering. If you wish to wear gloves, they will be provided to you at this point, however, gloves are not mandatory. This is a personal choice.
• If you are not wearing a mask on arrival, we will supply you with one before entering.
**Please keep in mind, if you're having a colour service done, you may wish to accept our disposable mask at the door, as we will likely soil it during the colour application/removal process. You will be disposing of this first mask before heading to your finish location. You will need to transition into a second mask, which can be of your own, or a team member can provide you with a second mask at this stage of your service.

Inside the Building:
• The floor will be marked as to where to stand in order to maintain a 6ft distance from other guests.

• Check-in with reception and please wait for a team member to call on you. Although we have missed you all so much, it will be a contactless greeting. No hugs at this time.

• All staff members of The Salon will be wearing a face mask or face shield. Gloves will be worn when needed, and hands sanitized between each client, and as often as needed if touching different surfaces throughout your appointment. Hand sanitizer will be available at each station that is in use, for the stylist and their guest, as well as in common areas.

• Chairs will only be occupied staggered and 6ft apart. Shampoo bowls will not be used side by side.

• All stations and shampoo bowls will be disinfected between each client, and a clean cape, towel, and pop-up provided for every service.

• Door handles, light switches, washrooms and common surfaces will be disinfected regularly throughout the day. The Salon will be using PREempt RTU disinfectant solution, which is a broad-spectrum sanitizer with a 30 second kill claim. It also carries a no-hazard classification.

• Your stylist tools will be sprayed, with an approved disinfectant, after every appointment.

• All persons will navigate the salon in a clockwise fashion, in order to maintain a safe distance between our guests. If you have any questions please feel free to ask a team member.

• In order to keep within our required Post-COVID capacity, only clients will be allowed to enter the building. Friends and family are unable to accompany you during your appointment. If you require assistance please make us aware of this prior to your appointment – contact reception and we will make arrangements. For children's haircuts only one parent allowed per child during their service. If your child is of an appropriate age, and you feel comfortable with your stylist greeting you at the door, they are prepared to guide your child through the service while you wait on the bench out front in order to keep a safe distance.

During your Visit:
• Our beverage and snack bar will still be available, but has been moved to an employees only location. A team member will be pleased to offer you a beverage to be served in a disposable cup. Snacks are individually packaged. No self service at this time.

• The Salon's bar service will also be available for purchase with disposable cups and garbage/recycling will be made accessible to you. **You should note that enjoying these services with regulated face masks, will be little different as well, but you can certainly enjoy your salon experience with modifications!

• Magazines have been removed at this time, but please enjoy our complimentary WiFi on your personal device.

Booking an Appointment:
• The Salon's online booking system is currently disabled, so that we can ensure that all appointments are being scheduled with appropriate timing for breaks and cleaning. We will re-activate our online booking service when it's best determined. Please call The Salon at 613-966-4247 to book your appointment.

• Booking your follow-up appointment may be a little tricky during this phase. Please be patient with our staff when you are re-booking your next visit. Our stylists have modified/extended their hours for the summer months, in order to service clients as quickly and efficiently as possible. These lovely ladies are currently rescheduling 3 months worth of services, and trying their best to accommodate each of you while following the new guidelines/protocols.

• Staff hours will return to normal in September and therefore it may not be possible to schedule your follow-up appointment at exactly the number of weeks you are hoping for. It may take your stylist some time to have all of your appointment rotations fall back into place nicely. We thank you for your patience.

Consultation and Trim Services Limited:
• As the timing of your services and the need to stay on schedule is so important at this time, we will be limiting consultations to no longer than 5 minutes. If you feel strongly that your upcoming appointment will require a lengthier consultation, please contact The Salon ahead of time. If possible, we may arrange a virtual consultation with your stylist ahead of the appointment.

• Until further notice, we will not be offering pop-in bang trims, as we once did. A full haircut appointment will need to be scheduled, unless you are pairing it with a colour service.

• Beard trims are not permitted at this time, as per health Canada guidelines.

Temporary COVID-19 Surcharge:
• The Salon will be adding a temporary COVID-19 surcharge to all client service tickets. We wish to be transparent about this ahead of our re-opening. This will help us to avoid an increase in our pricing. Many in our industry will increase their prices, in order to help absorb the long list of new costs involved with meeting required guidelines. This is an individual decision per business, and The Salon team have discussed that we would prefer implementing a temporary COVID-19 surcharge, that will be removed as our salon gradually returns to our usual high standard, while continuing to meet your expectations. We thank you for understanding, and appreciate your support immensely.

• This temporary surcharge will be as follows:
Single service $3 per person/per visit (this includes all haircuts or styling services)
Multi Service $5 per person/per visit (this includes all colour services)

• The Salon has always held our shop cleanliness to a high standard, however the temporary surcharge will go directly to the extra areas of need required for us to re-open during the pandemic. This includes cost of new cleaning materials, personal protective equipment, extra team members to increase cleaning measures. We are also going above industry requirements with hiring a full-time greeter so that we may pre-screen each staff member and client prior to entering our building.

Parking:
As always, complimentary parking is available in The Salon's parking lot, behind our building. The City of Belleville is currently honouring no charge parking throughout the downtown district, and this includes the municipal parking lot next door to The Salon.

Payment Methods:
• We will be accepting all of our regular methods of payment, including cash. We have our own protocol in place for handling cash transactions.

• Reception will be wiping the debit terminals with a PREempt disinfecting wipe, prior to each client transaction.

• The reception area, including telephones, keyboards, and common surfaces will be wiped down with these disinfecting wipes every 30 minutes.

• We ask that you refrain from handling products in our retail area. A team member will be happy to assist you in collecting your products from our shelves.

Loyalty Rewards Program:
Collecting your The Salon loyalty points will be handled differently now, as we do not need to touch your phones! Our program provider has introduced a contactless way for you to collect points. You will still need to have your phone ready, and be logged into your app, but reception will walk you through a new contactless way to collect your loyalty rewards points at each visit.

Retail Experience:
• Many of you have taken advantage of shopping our new e-commerce site during The Salon's closure. If you have yet to check it out, visit www.shop.downtownbelleville.ca – from there you can enter The Salon's online store and browse all of your favorite products from the comfort of your own home. There is a link from our website, as well as an additional link to purchase digital gift cards 24/7.

• Product pickups will be available every Tuesday and Friday. Simply place your order online, pay directly through the site, wait for an email that your order has been fulfilled, and come by the following Tuesday or Friday.

• Pick-up Option 1: You can pull into our parking lot, phone reception at 613-966-4247, provide your name and vehicle make, and a team member will run it out to you.

• Pick-up Option 2: For pick-up at the main entrance on Front St., you can call reception at 613-966-4247 and have it brought out at a safe distance from others, that may be waiting outside. By using this method when you're not in salon for an appointment, it helps us keep capacity, and avoids our entrance procedure to pick up your haircare products and gift cards.

• Please don't hesitate reaching out to us via email at info@thesalonbelleville.com if you have any questions regarding product selection or how to navigate our online shop.
